Community Tree Planting
Community Tree Planting

Location: Vallejo Mill Elementary School
Urban Forest Friends will be working with the City of Fremont and FUSD to plant sixteen (16) trees at Vallejo Mill Elementary School. This is a great opportunity for you and your child to learn how to properly plant trees, help your community, and fight climate change.
Your child must be in 4th or 5th grade to volunteer. Limit is one parent per child.
No previous experience necessary! We'll bring all the tools and supplies - just bring yourself, some water, and wear sturdy closed-toed shoes.
There is a Tree Talk at 10:15am-10:30am where ALL grade levels are invited. Learn about trees, how they help us and the planet, and how to plant them!
This is a special opportunity for kids to help support their school and the Earth!

Come join us for our Holiday Bake Sale!
We are looking for some volunteers:
-Set up
-Baking (your own recipes, baked goods, etc.)
-Ovens (PTA provides the cookie dough, you bake the cookies at home)
-Hot Chocolate Bar
-Selling (sell your own or help sell other baked goods)
-Clean up
Proceeds will be going towards 5th Grade Science Camp to help keep the cost down.
So 5th Grade Families, we're looking at you! Help by donating baked goods (cookies, brownies, cupcakes, etc.) to sell at the bake sale or volunteer your oven!
We've saved some spots just for you!

Shade Structure
Our PTA has been working hard for the past several years to find a solution for the area between the MUR building and Library where our students eat lunch. That area is exposed to harsh weather and is in need of a shade structure.
Our mission for the 2020-2021 year was to raise enough money to support the cost of this project. Our only fundraiser for the year, the Dolphin Dash was a huge success even though it was virtual. We were able to raise $25,000!
With the hard work of our PTA project committee and support of our school staff, we were able to get our project approved and funded by the Measure E Bond. We were projected to have it start soon and be completed by the end of 2023. Construction delays for the middle school conversion have pushed our project back.
We will update you as soon as we have a start date.
We look forward to using the space not only for lunch but for other projects and events.

Thanks to the funds we raised during our 2021 Dolphin Dash, the PTA purchased 5 additional lunch tables.

Our Dolphin Dash that was completed the week of Oct 26 - 30 was a HUGE success! Thank you to our Vallejo Mill community. We were able to raise $30,000. Since this was a volunteer lead event, 100% of the money earned came right back to our PTA to help our budget for the 2021-2022 school year. This reflects the impact that volunteering can have a direct and positive impact for our students.
We only have one major fundraiser so we don't need to do multiple smaller fundraiser throughout the year. This way we can ensure enough funding for the PTA to support programs, events and supplies for our students.

Our Dolphin Dash fun run event is just around the corner!
Our dolphins will be running for 10-15mins during their allotted time slot. Kona Ice will be in attendance to help cool them down after such a great run!
We are looking for volunteers who will help encourage our kids to keep running, motivate the parents to cheer on their kids!
Kona Ice will also need a couple of volunteers to help serve the shaved ice to our kids:
-Lower grade levels (TK-2nd) will have their shaved ice ready for them when they are done running. Volunteers will need to pour the flavors onto the ice.
-Upper grade levels (3rd-5th) will be able to pick among 3 different flavors. Volunteers will need to help the kids move along in picking their flavors, handing out napkins and spoons.
If you are interested and want to help out, please don't hesitate to sign up. On our sign up sheet, we have also provided the run schedule for the classes (maybe you want to help volunteer while your child runs?)
